Privacy policy
Effective October 20, 2026
Know Your Daycare is an independent project. This policy explains what information is involved when you visit the site or write to us. In short: we have no accounts, set no cookies, and run no analytics or advertising code.
Information we collect
- No accounts or forms. You can use the whole site without signing up or entering anything.
- No cookies. The site does not set cookies or use similar browser storage.
- No analytics or tracking scripts, and no third-party fonts, embeds, or social media widgets. Pages are plain HTML and load nothing from other websites.
- Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider receives technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which uses this to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use logs to track, profile, or identify visitors, except as needed to investigate abuse or as required by law.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you include, and use it only to answer you and keep a record of corrections. We do not add you to any list. Email to us is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail inbox and may be handled outside the United States.
Information about daycares
Daycare pages show public records published by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. For daycares run in a private home, we show only the city and ZIP code, not the street address or phone number the state lists. We show each operation’s name as the state registers it; for home daycares this is often the caregiver’s own name. We do not show the names of directors or staff. See how we check the data and corrections.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only if required by law, or to protect the site and its users from fraud or abuse.
Children
The site is written for parents and caregivers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Advertising
The site does not show advertising at present. Before any advertising appears, this policy will name the providers, explain the cookies they use, and say how to opt out of personalized ads.
Links to other sites
We link to state websites and other sources. Their privacy practices are their own.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
